2010s Alain Mikli x Alexander Vauthier
The Ansolet model is part of the collaboration between Alain Mikli and Alexandre Vauthier , launched during Paris Couture Fashion Week. The collection was designed over six months, based on nearly identical mood boards that the two designers brought to their first meeting. This shared vision gave rise to a series of distinctive models, including the Ansolet.
The main inspiration comes from a photograph of Catherine Deneuve in the film The Hunger (1983), wearing a hat and glasses, an explicit reference to a nocturnal and cinematic aesthetic. The Ansolet model bears this legacy: thick lines, framed gaze, assertive silhouette.
Presented in 2019 as part of the second Mikli x Vauthier collection, the series featured three main shapes— Ansolet , Josseline , and Ketti —and took a couture approach to accessories. The associated visual campaign featured figures such as Christy Turlington , photographed by Inez & Vinoodh , underscoring the desire to design these glasses as pieces in their own right in the designer wardrobe.
