The FAQ
What does Vision Janine offer?
What does Vision Janine offer?
Vision Janine offers high-end vintage sunglasses, carefully refurbished in France. Each piece is unique, selected for its style, rarity, or history.
What is a refurbished vintage eyeglass?
What is a refurbished vintage eyeglass?
For us, vintage eyeglasses are more than 20 years old. This means they were made before 2005. You'll find original frames with us, dating from around 1910 to 2010.
This is therefore an authentic frame from years past, cleaned, fully restored for a complete refurbishment and fitted with new "optician" quality sunglasses, namely the same quality of lenses as at a high-end optician.
Are they new?
Are they new?
Almost! In our collections, you'll find so-called "dead stock" eyeglass frames—which means they're vintage but still new—and others that have already had a life and have been worn.
ALL frames have been refurbished in our workshop near Lyon, cleaned, repolished, repaired, pampered, and more. And most importantly, the lenses are all new and selected for their quality, meeting the same standards as those you'll find at your optician.
Are the glasses authentic?
Are the glasses authentic?
Yes. All our frames are original and carefully selected from collectors, former opticians, or forgotten stock. Authenticity is verified before being put up for sale.
How are your prices set?
How are your prices set?
Our prices reflect the rarity of the model, the brand, the original condition, the complexity of the restoration and the quality of the materials (acetate, Optyl, gold metal, etc.).
The complexity of solar glass can also impact the price.
Is there a box?
Is there a box?
Yes! A pretty little Janine case, with a cleaning cloth to take care of your glasses and help them continue to travel through time for a long time to come... It's FREE of course.
Where do your glasses come from?
Where do your glasses come from?
Our models come from all over the world: France, Italy, Germany, Japan... always with a focus on quality and originality. The origin is always specified.
Where and by whom are your glasses restored?
Where and by whom are your glasses restored?
The restoration is entirely carried out in France, in our workshop in Villefranche sur Saône near Lyon, by Adèle, co-founder of Janine, trained by artisan eyewear makers specializing in vintage and the best craftsmen in France.
This process includes cleaning, polishing, adjusting (re-dressing) and replacing lenses, as well as replacing consumables (nose pads, sleeves, screws, etc.). It is a demanding process that takes between 1 hour (minimum) and 3 hours for the most complex or damaged frames.
Today, Adèle's experience with vintage frames makes her one of the few specialists in France in the restoration and repair of glasses.

How do I know if my frame will fit me?
How do I know if my frame will fit me?
- If the size does not fit you:
The product sheets detail the exact dimensions of the frame (width, height, nose distance, temple length). You can compare these measurements with a pair you already own. Also consider visiting your local optician who will help you adjust the frame to your face (in most cases this is sufficient even if the size is not exactly right for you). If it really doesn't fit, returns are accepted within 15 days.
- If the style does not suit you or you have changed your mind:
Returns are accepted within 15 days. So if you change your mind, just send them back!
