Collection: Valentino

Valentino is an Italian fashion house founded in Rome, renowned for its timeless elegance and refined details. The Vision Janine collection features vintage eyewear from the 1980s to the 2000s: oversized acetate frames, gold finishes, and collections inspired by the brand's haute couture universe.

The brand's DNA

Valentino is the embodiment of Italian elegance, blending classic refinement with couture sophistication. His eyewear captures this spirit with generous shapes, thick frames, and precious details: gold inlays, elegantly integrated logos, marbled or translucent effects. The Valentino eyewear style is defined by a confident femininity, a strong presence, and constant attention to detail.

His story

Valentino was founded in 1960 in Rome by Valentino Garavani, quickly becoming known for his couture creations and his famous “Valentino red.” In the 1980s, the brand moved into the eyewear industry, through licenses with Italian manufacturers, notably Safilo. These decades saw the birth of glasses where the oversized design and the use of noble materials (Italian acetate, gold metal) reflected the couture universe of the house. Valentino glasses then became essential accessories, combining industrial know-how and haute couture aesthetics.

The iconic frames

- VL 6182: oversized tortoiseshell frame, thick temples with inlaid gold logo.

- VL 7006: 90s butterfly design, translucent acetate, gold details.

- VL 002/S: rectangular gold metal frame, smoked lenses.

- Oversized series from the 80s-90s: marbled acetates, visible logos, wide sculpted temples.

Did you know?

Valentino was one of the first Italian fashion houses to offer sunglasses that matched the accessories in its runway shows. In the 1980s and 1990s, some frames were produced in limited editions to match seasonal couture themes, a rare practice at the time and now highly sought after by collectors.

Why collect them?

Vintage Valentino glasses combine the oversized style typical of the 1980s and 1990s, Italian manufacturing, and couture details. They offer historical value for fashion enthusiasts, and their current rarity makes them sought-after pieces on the vintage market. Their bold design, both luxurious and timeless, makes them collector's items that bear witness to a period when Italian fashion houses were making their mark in the eyewear industry.
