Collection: Chanel
A symbol of timeless elegance and French refinement, Chanel has embodied a vision of luxury that is at once refined, bold, and feminine for over a century. Through this collection of restored vintage sunglasses, Vision Janine highlights the Parisian fashion house's optical heritage: rare pieces with a bold couture style and a discreet yet inimitable charm.
The brand's DNA
The brand's DNA
In the world of eyewear, Chanel applies the same principles: sober lines, quality materials, subtle details and a proud bearing.
Since the late 1980s, Chanel sunglasses have become fashion accessories in their own right, driven by Karl Lagerfeld. They are distinguished by their couture silhouette, their understated opulence, and the sparing but striking use of the “CC” logo.
His story
His story
Founded in Paris in 1910 by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, the house first established itself in fashion, then in perfumes and accessories. It was not until the late 1970s that Chanel began offering sunglasses, first through collaborations, then under license with Luxottica from 1995. This period marked a turning point: the frames became true fashion pieces, incorporating emblematic elements of the house. Glasses from the 80s to the 2000s are today the most sought-after for their bold design and manufacturing quality.
The iconic frames
The iconic frames
Some vintage Chanel references have become cult:
- Model 5076-H (early 2000): oversize, arms decorated with chains and braided leather like a 2.55 bag.
- Model 4189 (90s): rectangular frame, Chanel logo in capital letters on the temples.
- Model 4002: deep black acetate frame, with embossed camellia.
- Model 01452: typical of the 80s, mask in translucent brown Optyl with embossed gold logo.
We also find butterfly, aviator, or round shapes, with a variety of materials: acetate, gold-plated metal, sometimes even gold-plated. The temples are the favorite area of expression: chain, link, intertwined logo, pearls, or leather—every detail echoes the couture universe of the house.

In the 1990s, Chanel released a selection of 24-carat gold-plated eyeglasses with Swarovski crystal-encrusted logos. Produced in very small batches, these models were sold exclusively in Chanel boutiques and are now highly sought-after collector's items.
Why collect them?
Why collect them?
For their meticulous craftsmanship (Italy or France), their unique couture details (chains, pearls, logos), and their growing value on the vintage market. The models from the 1980s to the 2000s combine iconic style and authentic rarity—a true fashion heritage to wear or keep.
