Collection: Lacoste

Founded by a French tennis champion, Lacoste has for decades embodied a style that is sporty, chic and relaxed, perfectly translated through our collection of vintage glasses.

The brand's DNA

Lacoste is the union of sport and elegance. True to the world of tennis from which it originated, the brand offers a wardrobe imbued with graphic simplicity, clean lines, and references to performance. Its eyewear reflects this spirit: dynamic shapes, sleek design, and discreet (or overt) touches of the crocodile logo, which has become a global signature.

His story

Founded in 1933 by René Lacoste and André Gillier, the brand began with the famous petit piqué jersey shirt. René Lacoste, nicknamed "the crocodile" on the courts, adopted the animal as his emblem from the very beginning. Beginning in the 1980s, Lacoste diversified its products and entered the accessories market, including eyewear. Sunglasses produced under license, notably by L'Amy in France, reflected the house's casual chic style and became popular in the 1980s and 1990s.

The iconic frames

Among the most sought-after models we find:

- Lacoste 101: classic aviator shape with metallic crocodile insert on the temple, often made of Optyl.

- Lacoste 123: sporty rectangular shape, with flex hinges and slightly curved lenses.

- Lacoste 908: semi-rimless model typical of the 90s, with colored temples in matte acetate.

- Lacoste 909: wide cat-eye shape revisited, very 2000s, with full frame.

- Lacoste L3600: oversized model with metal bridge, recognizable by its amber or smoky gray tones.

Did you know?

In the 1980s, Lacoste collaborated with L'Amy, a French manufacturer of high-end eyewear, to produce its first optical and sunglasses collections. This collaboration guarantees Made in France manufacturing, which is now highly sought after by vintage eyewear enthusiasts. Many models also feature the words "Lacoste L'Amy France" on the inside of the temples.

Why collect them?

Vintage Lacoste glasses combine several advantages for collectors:
– a sporting and cultural heritage associated with an iconic 20th century brand;
– careful French manufacturing for many models;
– emblematic shapes from the 80s and 90s, which have become rare;
– the presence of the crocodile logo, now a cult, as a sign of recognition.
