The brand's DNA
The brand's DNA
Bottega Veneta develops an approach to luxury based on discretion, rigor, and quality. Its style is characterized by an absence of visible logos, careful craftsmanship of materials, and an aesthetic focused on form rather than effect. The glasses reflect this vision: clean frames, bold lines, precise details. Attention to craftsmanship takes precedence over demonstration.
His story
His story
Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966 in Vicenza, Veneto, by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro. It specialized in artisanal leather goods, using a braiding technique—intrecciato—that became its signature. In the 2000s, after a period of decline, the brand was acquired by the Gucci group (now Kering) and found a new lease of life, notably under the leadership of Tomas Maier (2001–2018), and then with Daniel Lee from 2018, who radically modernized the brand's image while promoting its heritage. Bottega Veneta developed its eyewear lines from the 2000s onward, produced in Italy, respecting traditional craftsmanship.
The iconic frames
The iconic frames
Several vintage models clearly translate the Bottega Veneta aesthetic.
- The BV 56/S model, with its slightly curved square shape in black or brown acetate, embodies the rigorous minimalism of the house.
- The BV 99/S explores a bold butterfly shape, often two-tone, with wide temples adorned with a discreet intrecciato pattern.
- The BV 18/S model, a simple and structured version of the pilot shape, combines a gold metal frame and coated temples, in a more utilitarian spirit.
- The BV 114/S is distinguished by a thick acetate frame in smoky tones, where the intrecciato only appears on the tips.
- Finally, the BV 215/S adopts a unique glass mask format, with a thin metal frame, faithful to the formal vocabulary of the house.
These models, produced between 2005 and 2015, demonstrate uncompromising aesthetic consistency.
Did you know?
Did you know?
Before being relaunched in the luxury sector under the aegis of Kering, Bottega Veneta had the slogan: “When your own initials are enough,” a manifesto of a style without a logo or visible signature. This principle has remained a stylistic compass, even in the eyeglass frames, which are deliberately not branded on the front, contrary to the widespread practice in the 2000s.
