Collection: Thierry Mugler

An icon of avant-garde and sculptural glamour, Thierry Mugler has left his mark on fashion history with a powerful, theatrical, and ultra-feminine aesthetic. His rare and unique vintage eyewear is a true design masterpiece. At Vision Janine, we have meticulously restored a selection of Mugler models, truly exceptional pieces, somewhere between science fiction and haute couture.

The brand's DNA

Thierry Mugler embodies a theatrical and avant-garde aesthetic, where fashion becomes a futuristic staging. His eyewear translates this DNA through sculptural shapes, oversized frames, and bold metal details. Each piece reflects an architectural vision of design, blending sensuality, power, and extravagance.

His story

Thierry Mugler was founded in 1974 by the eponymous French designer. Revolutionizing fashion in the 1980s with his architectural silhouettes and spectacular world, Mugler extended his style to accessories, including eyewear. Produced under license from European manufacturers (particularly in France and Germany), Mugler's eyewear from the 1980s to the 2000s captured the visionary spirit of his couture collections: bold volumes, innovative materials, and metallic details inspired by the futuristic world.

The iconic frames

- Oversized series from the 90s: black or translucent acetate frames, wide temples decorated with metallic details.

- Futuristic geometric shapes: sharp angles, original cutouts and sculpted silhouettes.

- Butterfly and mask frames: a nod to the extravagance of Mugler fashion shows.

- Signature details: silver inlays, stylized logos, mirror effects.

Did you know?

Thierry Mugler, a fan of spectacle and science fiction, conceived his fashion shows as true performances. In the 1990s, some of the eyewear presented on the catwalks was created in very limited editions, especially for the shows, worn by legendary models like Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, which explains their current rarity on the vintage market.

Why collect them?

Vintage Thierry Mugler glasses are attractive for their sculptural aesthetic, their place in the history of 1980s-2000s fashion, and their rarity on the current market. They embody a high point in French design, when the accessory became a couture piece in its own right. For collectors, they represent iconic objects from an era when fashion and artistic performance merged.
