The brand's DNA
The brand's DNA
Missoni embodies the art of color and pattern. Renowned for its zigzag knits, striped designs, and shimmering palettes, the brand translates this spirit into its eyewear. The frames feature dynamic lines, acetates in vibrant or gradient hues, and graphic details reminiscent of the brand's textile universe. The Missoni eyewear aesthetic is joyful, expressive, and resolutely Italian.
His story
His story
Founded in 1953 by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni in Gallarate, near Milan, the fashion house specialized in high-end knitwear before becoming a symbol of Made in Italy. Starting in the 1970s, the brand expanded its range to include fashion and accessories, including eyewear. Missoni eyewear appeared primarily in the 1980s and 1990s, produced under license by Italian manufacturers such as Safilo. True to the brand's DNA, they reclaimed the importance of color and pattern, but translated into acetate, metal, or Optyl.

In the 1980s, Missoni was one of the first fashion houses to collaborate with Safilo to adapt the aesthetics of its iconic fabrics to eyewear. Some frame arms directly reproduced screen-printed zigzag patterns, a rare innovation in the optical world of the time.
Why collect them?
Why collect them?
Vintage Missoni eyewear offers a faithful testament to Italian design from the 1980s to the 2000s. Their appeal lies in the combination of textile creativity transposed to optics, the quality of Italian manufacturing, and the rarity of the models still available. They appeal to fashion lovers for their colorful identity and to collectors for their heritage value in the history of eyewear.
