Collection: Philipp Plein
At Vision Janine, we also select pieces with a strong character, the opposite of minimalism. This is the case with Philipp Plein glasses, known for their luxurious, provocative, and radically contemporary aesthetic.
Massive design, bold logos, chrome or rhinestone details: these models speak loudly, and that's their style.
The brand's DNA
The brand's DNA
Philipp Plein develops a graphic universe centered on visual excess, ornamentation, and the codes of ostentatious luxury. The sunglasses created under this name adopt a strong aesthetic: massive shapes, visible logos, metallic elements, sometimes studded or engraved. These are pieces designed to occupy visual space, asserting a spectacular approach to design. The Plein signature is based on a hybridization of urban fashion, biker influences, and glamorous imagery.
His story
His story
Founded in Germany in 2004, Philipp Plein quickly established itself in the world of rebellious luxury, blending rock influences, streetwear and sophisticated bling.
The sunglasses created by the brand reflect its runway shows: spectacular, often oversized, and always marked by powerful visual codes—metal logos, geometric shapes, engraved temples, mirror finishes.
The iconic frames
The iconic frames
Several references produced between 2013 and 2020 are identifiable. The SPS004M model features an angular mask shape with a glossy black acetate front and a hexagonal metal insert on the temples. The SPS010M model adopts a revisited pilot shape with wide temples and a metal bridge engraved with the brand name. Other frames, such as the SPS021M, are distinguished by the addition of chains, visible screws, or three-dimensional logos. In most cases, the lenses are tinted black, gray, or mirrored, with high protection indices. All collections follow a logic of clear visual differentiation.
Did you know?
Did you know?
Some Philipp Plein glasses feature a metal-encrusted skull or a hexagonal rhinestone logo on the temples, a direct reference to the brand's jewelry and accessories line. These decorative elements are designed as cross-cutting signatures, present in several product categories (shoes, bags, eyewear, watches).
Why collect them?
Why collect them?
Philipp Plein's early optical collections represent a clear example of a stylistic moment in the 2010s, when the aesthetic of over-the-top visual luxury held a prominent place in European and American fashion. Their Italian manufacturing makes them robust objects with meticulous industrial finishes, even when style takes precedence over discretion. For fans of designer designs, these frames are identifiable, dated pieces that are relatively rare on the secondary market, especially in their unmodified versions.
